EnScan

Case study 2 - Reverse engineering

Minima Design Limited had a requirement to model the blade surfaces of a small air-movement fan for an ongoing project for one of their clients. Having had a similar blade digitised by another source some months previously, Minima had been dissatisfied with the quality and completeness of the point cloud data it received. Manipulation of this data within Minima's SolidWorks CAD system was difficult and inaccurate.

With the recent arrival of En-scan's new ExaScan unit came the opportunity to get high quality data for the next phase of the design process.

Within the space of two hours, En-scan was able to get quality useable STL data from the fan unit and apply an accurate origin to the data using the ExaScan's unique self positioning targets.

For half the cost and a fraction of the time, Minima received quality data which could be easily manipulate within the SolidWorks 3D environment.
