Scanning

We can scan:

• Metal parts, plastics parts, stone parts, wooden parts, body parts, most parts.
• Hard surfaces, soft surfaces, reflective surfaces, textured surfaces, smooth surfaces.
• Large things - up to the size of a car
• Small things - anything smaller than a tea cup with a lot of detail is difficult but not impossible.

You can send us your components or we will come to your site. Set-up takes about ten minutes and part preparation involves the application of small self-adhesive reflective targets to the surface to be scanned. It may also be necessary to spray a light layer of talc onto the surface to reduce reflection.

Once done, the part or parts can be scanned quickly and effectively. The scan will be tailored to your requirements - e.g. full scan or reference face capture using the high resolution third camera. We will use our extensive design experience to understand your requirements in order to ensure that you get the data that you need but also that we don't waste your time and money providing data that you don't need. We will also set up sensible origins and co-ordinate systems within the data to help with down-stream manipulation.

Scanning of large or complex components generates very large data packages which can take a long time to process. Thus, if the project allows, it can be easier and more cost effective for us to collect the components and scan and process them at our premises.

Once the data files have been created, we can either e-mail them to you or deliver them to you via our DropSend account for collection at your convenience (see www.dropsend.com).
